Time to Get Excited -- TRON Lightcycle Run is opening in Magic Kingdom in just a few months!

Walt Disney World officials have announced the opening date for the property's next E-Ticket attraction, TRON Lightcycle Run! This thrilling coaster is set to welcome guests on April 4th, 2023! Cast Members have begun to dive into the Grid on this high-speed attraction and the initial response is overwhelmingly positive. This ride is guaranteed to transport you into another world as you embark on a hair-raising adventure while riding a Lightcycle!

Strap in as you become 'digitized' and earn a victory for Team Blue! Speeds in this sci-fi themed race nearly climb up to 60 miles per hour, hurdling past many other WDW attractions. As with most of the fantastic new rides in the parks, guests will enter a virtual queue in order to embark on one of their own cycles, made easy with the My Disney Experience app available on most mobile devices. Only one entry will be permitted per day into this online queue in order to make the experience as accessible as possible.

The seats on this attraction, unlike the carts seen in many rollercoasters, resemble those found in Animal Kingdom's Pandora section on Flight of Passage, in which guests mount their own Banshee, or Ikran, and fly through the stunning and exciting world James Cameron has created. In this seating, one has back restraints that rise up after mounting the motorbike-shaped vehicle, rather than simple overhead or lap restraints. This is liberating and more secure than previous methods.

TRON Lightcycle Run actually exists in another Disney park already. After the success seen in Shanghai, the company decided to bring it to one of their North American parks. For those who are a bit unsure of thrill rides, rest assured that neither the WDW or Shanghai version of this attraction go upside-down. However, there will be plenty of turns, drops, and the like, which may take place in the dark.

This new ride is shaping up to be a very exciting addition to Walt Disney World. It has been nearly 10 years since the last addition of a ride to Magic Kingdom, with the most recent opening occurring in May 2014 with Seven Dwarves Mine Train! Keeping this in mind, I can't wait to see this thrilling attraction in action as it brings something new to the Orlando parks.
